This little beauty is a must for your annual selection. It displays a golden blanket of tiny yellow flowers contrasted against a background of fuzzy, silvery leaves. It will spill over the edge of a container or window box nicely, filling out and producing a continuous display of its golden luster.
The name 'Chryso' comes from the Greek, meaning 'Golden' and 'cephelis' meaning 'headed'. A native to Australia, it was recently introduced in our local nurseries just in the past two years. As the word gets out, this little gem will certainly be a favorite pick on your list.
I combined mine with nemesia 'cranberry', red verbena, a succulent called Aeoneum 'Sunburst' and a draceana spike 'Burgundy' for the center piece.. These colors contrasted nicely with the silvers and yellows in the 'Flambe". I understand this species does best with a lot of sun, especially midday, mine received a daily dose of about six hours and performed nicely.
Try this beauty next year in your annual display. Try some other combination's with it; purples, whites or some apricot verbena would look great. Throw some marigolds into the mix, the choices are endless. Just try this one out, it won't disappoint you.
Cheers

Let Ladybugs Lie
It is that time of year everyone is putting there garden beds to rest. Ladybugs are doing there part in preparing for the winter as well. They are searching for a nice resting place under the cover of a warm blanket of leaves. So when you are tidying up that yard for the winter maybe take all those leaves and find a bed in the back corner of your yard to let these ladybugs rest. Then next year you will have these friends of our garden ready to do there part in fending off the bugs we don't want.
